US Airways Flights Receive In-Flight Wi-Fi
Starting today, five US Airways Airbus A321 will be capable of receiving in-flight Wi-Fi access while up in the air. While the carrier is not revealing which five planes will be outfitted with the technology, this is indeed a great move for US Airways and their frequent flyers. With Virgin America, AirTran, and some JetBlue andDelta aircrafts already providing in-flight internet access for quite some time, this update was long overdue for US Airways. By June, the airline expects to have their remaining 51 planes suited for in-flight Wi-Fi. Fortunate flyers that are on one of the five US Airways planes equipped with the Gogo in-flight service between now and June 1 will receive one free session. After that they will have to pay the regulate rate. For a flight lasting up to 90 minutes it will cost passengers $4.95, for flights lasting 90 minutes to three hours it will cost $9.95 and for flights over three hours expect to fork over $12.95.
Gogo Inflight, the company that turns most commercial airplane into a Wi-Fi hotspot, enables passengers with Wi-Fi ready devices, such as laptops and smartphones, to surf the Web, check e-mail, instant message, access a corporate VPN and more.
