The "shortness of breath" is a "symptom" which can indicate many things...it could be related to any of the systems in the body directly or indirectly......so....
 
If you are in India, walk into any of the Apollo Hospitals or Apollo Clinics and ask for a "master health check up".....and if you are outside India, walk into any major hospitals and ask for a complete medical check up programme....
The result will be shown to a consultant, and after his complete clinical exam, he will advise you...

My problem is that I am unable to take in a full deep breath . if I try it seems like I just stop inhaling at some point and I get a tightness feeling in my chest.
Now its hardly noticeable during the day but at night its gets bad, It's been keeping me up at night and really starting to worry me.
Sometimes it feels as if I need to yawn, but can't.  If any one can suggest
a remedy or suggestion its highly appreciative
