Monsoon
in the beginning of June,
when the first rains hit Kerala,
No monsoon poetry ever gets written beyond June.
In July
he attends to more mundane matters:
a leaking roof, devising ways to drain his waterlogged courtyard,
losing and purchasing umbrellas and fighting mosquitoes.
The cars go for a fresh coat of
Teflon undercoating and the first fledgling potholes
make their appearance on the roads.
